Swiss Hotel Chedi Andermatt To Start Accepting BTC And ETH Payments

The Chedi Andermatt is set to become the first hotel in Switzerland to accept cryptocurrencies as a method of payment for the hotel services. The hotel customers can now settle their accommodation bills around 200 CHF using BTC or Ether.

News reaching recently that Dolle Mol, the popular Belgian bar and Turpial Airlines in Venezuela, will also join the train of firms accepting cryptocurrencies as a method of payments for their services.

The Adoption of Crypto is Getting to Its Peak in the Alps

News from Blick, a Swiss local media affirm that Chedi Andermatt will start accepting cryptocurrencies as a means of payment. For a start, the crypto payments option for the luxurious Swiss hotel will just be the two leading digital assets per market cap (BTC and ETH). This option became available when the hotel bill is more than 200 Swiss Franc (approximately 218 USD).

Bearing in mind that the cost of a double deluxe room for a night in the hotel is more than $600 making it easy to reach the limit where the crypto option is available. The hotel situated in the heart of the Alps in Switzerland offers 123 rooms for its clients with a spectacular view.

The general manager of the hotel, appraising the new development, said, “Looking at the wave of adoption hitting the crypto space, we are proud to be the first hotel in Switzerland to adopt this safe and secure payment method called cryptocurrencies.”

While Chedi Andermatt is the first Swiss hotel to accept crypto as a means of payment, it is not the first hotel globally. Earlier in July, it was reported that the Pavilions Hotel and Resort would allow its customers to access the hotel services through over 40 digital assets, Bitcoin and Ethereum inclusive.

The Belgium and Venezuela Representative

Considering the massive adoption of cryptocurrencies in the world, Venezuela and Belgium also had their representative. Turpial Airlines in Venezuela announced recently that the airline would start accepting BTC as a means of payment. The statement reads that users can book and purchase their flight tickets with Bitcoin through the company’s website or through PayPal or Zelle.

Dolle Mol, a popular bar in Belgium, also joined the move. Pints of beer can now be paid for using cryptocurrencies. Though, the manager did not give voice to the specific tokens that will be acknowledged.

One of the bar owners, Gregoire, revealed that as of now, no customer used the new payment option, but he revealed that he is not worried because the advent of crypto can be compared to that of the internet in the 90s. Sooner or later, the adoption will go viral.

Gregoire explained how the option could be used. He said, “When you get a pint of beer, you just tell the barman Bitcoin, and he gets a QR code for you to scan while the system does its thing.”
